Quick answer

What is a car wrap?

A car wrap is a thin vinyl film, about 3 to 5 mil thick, applied over a vehicle's paint with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Printed wraps carry logos, photos and advertising under a clear laminate. Color-change wraps give the vehicle a new color or finish. Both can be removed later.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a car wrap?

A car wrap is a thin vinyl film, about 3 to 5 mil thick, applied over a vehicle's paint with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Printed wraps carry graphics under a clear laminate; color-change wraps give a new color or finish. Both can be removed later.

What's the difference between a printed wrap and a color-change wrap?

A printed wrap is white film printed with a design and covered with a clear laminate, used for logos and advertising. A color-change wrap uses film that is already colored, with the finish built in, so there's no ink and usually no laminate.

How long does a car wrap last?

Most professionally installed wraps last 5 to 7 years with good care. Vertical panels can reach about 8 years; hoods and roofs about 3. See our lifespan guide for manufacturer ratings and care tips.

Does a car wrap damage paint?

Not on healthy original paint when it's removed properly with heat. Repainted panels or failing clear coat can lift with the film, and we flag that when we quote.
